Previous winners
Scholarships are presented
each year and total presentations (since 1988) have now reached over
140. The program continues to grow and support young achievers in the
agricultural community.
What's available?
Scholarships are available in three categories:
- Two $2,500 scholarships are offered to individuals
in a post graduate degree program in agriculture, agricultural journalism
and veterinary medicine at a recognized university, leading
to a career in the field of agriculture.
- Four $2,000 scholarships are offered to individuals
in an undergraduate degree program in agriculture, agricultural journalism
and veterinary medicines at a recognized university leading
to a career in the field of agriculture. The successful applicant
will already have completed a minimum of one year in his or her major
field of studies.
- Four $1,500 scholarships are offered to individuals
enrolled in a recognized diploma program in agriculture, agricultural
journalism and veterinary medicineleading to a career in the
field of agriculture. The successful applicants will have
already completed a minimum of one year in a diploma program.
(All scholarships may not
be awarded)
General Information
- Closing date for applications is July 1
- Copies of grades and references to be included with
application and winner must have grades confirmed by their university
or college
- Selection is based on academic merit, contibution
to school and/or community, an indication of career objeactives and
involvement and accomplishments in youth program
- All questions must be answered or marked "not
applicable" (please print or type)
- Only successful applicants will be advised prior
to September 1
- A career in the field of agriculture includes veterinary
medicine
- Completed applications should be mailed and
postmarked no later than July 1 (Faxes and emails are not accepted)
How Do I
Qualify?
For each of categories,
the applicant must have completed a minimum of one year of college
or university education and must be enrolled in the fall semester
for another year of studies in a recognized college or university
Students may apply more
than once, however students are limited to one scholarship per category.

Daniel Columbus recently completed his Master of Science Degree
in swine nutrition at the University of Guelph. |
Karen Wagner
Karen Wagner of Consul, SK, is one of the outstanding and highly
recognized students at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine
at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. |
Evan Capatos
Evan Capatos is currently in his fourth year of studies at the
University of Lethbridge working towards a major in Agricultural
Studies and a minor in Agricultural Business. |
Ashley Farrell
Ashley Farrell of Middle Sackville, NS, is currently in her second
year of studies at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in a Pre-Veterinay
program. |
Vanessa Klages
A native of Mildmay, ON currently enrolled in her fourth year
of studies at the University of Guelph. She will graduate next
spring with a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Agricultural
Business. |
Andrea Walters
From Kamloops, BC, and enrolled at Thompson Rivers University
in a Pre-Veterinary Medicine program specializing in animal biology. |
Amanda Doyle
Following a high school career in Fort Macleod, AB, where she
maintained an honour’s average in her classes, Amanda Doyle
has gone on to continue her studies at the Olds Agriculture College
in Olds, AB. |
Jonathon Messerli
Jonathon Messerli was raised on a dairy and cash crop farm at
Riviere Rouge Sud, QC. He is now in his second year of studies
at McDonald College at McGill University with a major in Farm
Management Technology. |
Trevor Morris
He hails from Souris, MB, and is currently attending his second
year at the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, MB studying
under the program of Land and Water Management. |
Kristina Peters
Kristina is currently studying at the Olds College in the Agricultural
Business Program and will complete her second year in the spring
of 2009. |
