WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
The Keith Gilmore Foundation, established in 1987, awards scholarships every
year to young people studying in the fields of Agriculture. Students from across
Canada, as well as a few from the United States and overseas, have benefited
through this program. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded
approximately $130,000 for more than 100 scholarships.
HOW IS IT FINANCED – HOW CAN YOU HELP?
All of the funds available have been donated. The Foundation is governed by
a volunteer Board of Trustees who set policy and award scholarships. A high
percentage of the financing has come from purebred and commercial cattlmen,
many of whom are affiliated with the Hereford breed. Funds are raised in
a variety of ways, including:
- private, tax deductible donations,
- participating in an annual golf tournament and auction,
- naming The Keith Gilmore Foundation for consideration in one’s last will
and testament,
- in many instances, funds have been directed to The Foundation by generous
families who encourage friends of a loved one recently passed to
make donations to The Foundation in lieu of flowers at the funeral.
As the principal of the fund continues to grow, investment income provides
additional revenue for scholarships annually.
You are assured that 100 per cent of your donations are used directly to the
benefit of Agricultural students. It is the policy of the Trustees not to deplete
the principal of the fund so there is no danger The Keith Gilmore Foundation
will lose its ability to continue to assist young people.
Tax receipts are issued to everyone who donates to The Foundation.
Your participation is welcome at any level.
